Why Unlock iPhone 4

With the release and the popularity of the impressive Apple iPhone 4, it was inevitable that an unlocked iPhone 4 would soon hit the streets as well. The iPhone is a smartphone that has changed the mobile world completely, and it is one of those rare gadgets that paves the way and opens a gateway for the entire world to follow through. Apple Inc. achieved something truly phenomenal with the iPhone, and showed the world the true extent and power of technology.

But like with all other technological advancements, the developers and the creators need to make money, and for this reason there are many restrictions that come with the iPhone. None of them are wholeheartedly crippling, but they are restrictions nonetheless. As of now the only carrier in the United States that an iPhone can officially function on is AT&T, and they follow a profit sharing agreement with Apple. Pretty soon Verizon is also going to be let into the party, and this will only be a good thing. But as of now, when you buy 6.1-inch smart phone a new iPhone, you can only operate on the AT&T network, which is quite atrocious to be perfectly honest.

What are Unlocked iPhones?

Now wherever there is technology and software coding, there are going to be people who will want to break that code as well. Whether this is a good thing or not Huawei Ascend Mate Release Date is up for debate, but there are many advantages that one can gain from an unlocked iPhone 4. There are many people who have voiced their opinion and said that it is ludicrous that they should be expected to use an iPhone only on the AT&T network. To do so they can either purchase a contracted iPhone, where they pay a fixed monthly rental irrespective of their usage. The amount of this rental can be picked by them based on their usage habits, and the period of the 'contract' is fixed. The only advantage is that the hardware comes at a highly subsidized cost, but the total amount one pays is far greater. For people who already own a contract with AT&T, they can buy an uncontracted iPhone, which will cost substantially more (more than $450), and then use a plan that they are already on. All this to use AT&T's network.

With this in mind, there had to come a time when an iPhone could run on any carriers network. And this is what an unlocked iPhone 4, or any other iPhone, really is. This means you are not restricted to AT&T, and you can use the device on the network of Verizon, T-Mobile or even Sprint. For people who have existing deals with these carriers, this works out splendidly. For people who live in countries where the Apple iPhone has not been officially released (and there are many such countries), this works out splendidly. For Apple Inc. and AT&T, this unsurprisingly does not turn out so splendidly. Other Considerations There is also some confusion when it comes to an unlocked iPhone 4. This stems from the terminology of the process, and many people mistake it for 'Jailbreaking'. Jailbreaking an iPhone means that third party applications and games can be installed on it, and you are not restricted to apps and games only from the official Apple App Store. An unlocked iPhone 4 implies a state where you can insert any SIM card into the device, and work on the network of any carrier without any restrictions.

Apple Inc. has realized the importance of this now, and this method of operation is now only limited to the United States. What this means is that Apple officially sells unlocked iPhone 4 models in various other countries like the United Kingdom, Canada and many more now. Though these are uncontracted devices so they cost a lot more, the fact that any GSM service can be used is an undoubted advantage. If you buy a factory unlocked iPhone 4 from any country that you visit, you can bring it back to the US and use it on another service providers network as well. When you buy an officially unlocked iPhone, you also receive updates and upgrades for it like any other iPhone would. Doing this illegally though, would render your warranty null and void so be very careful. It is common knowledge now that an unlocked iPhone 4 in Hong Kong will cost the least amount of money (around $695 for the 16GB model and $812 for the 32GB model). There are a total of 16 countries where these unlocked models can be bought.

To get your Apple iPhone 4 unlocked you can visit many websites and see many tutorials. But you must ensure that you get it done by a reliable person who knows how to unlock a cell phone properly, and know all the consequences as well. An unlocked iPhone 4 has many advantages though, and hopefully Apple will soon see the light and break the agreement with AT&T.
